Avocet based in the U.K. exhibited their CETAFLAM® range of flame retardants for the first time in the Asia Pacific region. Their Managing Director – Mr Trevor Lever said "the interest in our flame retardants was fantastic in particular for products imparting permanent flame retardancy on cotton, polyester and wool".

CETAFLAM® PD.RF is a low formaldehyde type which produces multi-wash fast properties when applied to cotton and CETAFLAM®PD.P gives the same effect on polyester. Both are applied by padding.

Two new flame retardants which attracted great interest were CETAFLAM® DB 9 and CETAFLAM® DB.WN 240.
CETAFLAM® DB 9 is a development of their highly successful CETAFLAM® DB 7 launched at ITMA 2003 in Birmingham U.K. Applied to polyester during the normal high temperature or carrier dyeing process CETAFLAM® DB 9 has low environmental impact, is very economical and produces a durable multi-wash fast flame retardant finish.

CETAFLAM® DB.WN 240 is applied in the exhausted dyebath to wool or wool:polyamide blends. It is a highly effective biodegradable flame retardant which is durable to dry cleaning and neutral launderings.

Fibres and fabrics flame retarded with these four products are suitable for aircraft, automotives, building materials, children’s clothing, contract and domestic furnishings, military uniforms and protective clothing.

Polyester:cotton blends for workwear can be durably flame retarded using a combination of CETAFLAM® PD.P and PD.RF or CETAFLAM® DB 9 and PD.RF.

Their extensive range of backcoating products for application to blackout fabric, curtains, domestic/contract upholstery and mattress tickings were demonstrated.

This CETAFLAM® BC SERIES enables the finisher to achieve the fire retardancy standards required by major European and North American retailers.

Avocet were supported during the show by the Managing Director of their distributor in India Mr Rakesh Goyal of Yogeshwar Chemicals Ltd. This undoubtably contributed to the very large number of Indian visitors to their stand from whom they received many requests for samples and bulk trial material.

A network of distributors for CETAFLAM® products covering the whole Asia Pacific region is now in place which will enable end users to have local access to Avocet’s complete range of flame retardants.
